Amersham™ [am-err-sham]
Located on the crossroads of Western blotting and impurity testing.
While Western blotting remains one of the most widely used techniques in today’s labs, it’s been said to be “a surprisingly persnickety method, requiring considerable hands-on time and optimization.” At Cytiva, our goal is to innovate to take out the guesswork so you can have the results and confidence you need – not to mention time savings. Apart from Western Blotting, the Amersham™ portfolio also delivers solutions for impurity detection and analysis – including consumables products as well as instruments. With a continued commitment to providing innovations for protein analysis, Amersham™ products work hard and work together – so your experience and results are the furthest thing from being “persnickety.”
Two guys walk into a bar, and the bartender says, “Next door is the future of Amersham.”
Sometimes, the best beginnings start at a local bar – or in this case, a British pub. In 1940, Dr. Patrick Grove and his manager at Thorium came to White Lion Road, Amersham (that’s a city near London) looking for a residence that had been recommended as a suitable location to refine radium. Unable to find the location, they decided to grab a sandwich and some beer at the local White Lion public house. Long story short, they were right next door and within months, the house they almost never found became vacant – which they purchased for £ 2 000 –ultimately becoming the birthplace of Amersham™.
