Forbes China has named Cytiva’s Yu Lihua, Greater China General Manager, one of China’s 50 Top Women in Tech, to recognize her contribution of leading the Cytiva China commercial team to accelerate and scale up the development and manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines.

To form the list, Forbes drew on five categories of technology leaders: moguls, founders, innovators, engineers and warriors. Their diverse selection of industry leaders shows not only how many women are impacting tech fields today, but also the true breadth of the tech industry.

Lihua says: “Participating in a life-changing industry makes me believe that technology can help combat gender imbalance, as well as shape a better future for the whole human society. The list including many female leaders from our customers also shows that the significance of biotechnology industry has been well and widely recognized. I congratulate my colleagues and fellow women professionals for setting the bar high, and setting an example for the next generation.”

The list aims to spotlight outstanding women and their remarkable achievements in science and technology in China, and highlight women's diversity and inclusiveness, as well as their great driving force and influence on science and technology innovation, sustainability and economic growth, said Forbes China in a press release.

“Forbes' Women in Tech List isn't just a compilation of entrepreneurs and innovators to watch out for in the coming year. It also reminds women and girls that their contributions to life changing technology are both possible and valuable,” said June Li, editor, Forbes China.

In the context of the world is still struggling with the global pandemic, we see there is an increasing focus on women leaders in biopharma industry and their contribution to combating the COVID-19. Alongside Lihua, Chen Wei, a biomedical expert and academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, landed on the list this year, for her work leading a team with CanSino Biologics Inc in developing China’s first recombinant vaccine. Dr. Joan Huaqiong Shen, CEO of I-Mab Biopharma, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focus on cancers and autoimmune disorders is another Cytiva customer on the list.
