Delivering preventive maintenance during lockdown

When the time for preventive maintenance rolled around during COVID-related restrictions, it meant a near-complete lockdown of the customer’s systems. Six systems needed service, the closest engineers were 3-6 hours away by car, and the pandemic limited options for lodging nearby. Understanding that the customer’s workflows are critical, the OptiRun service team needed to find a solution that would not interrupt production.

To solve the challenge, we used our global network of support to dispatch three field service engineers to the customer’s site on the day requested by the customer for preventive maintenance to be done. The engineers worked continuously to service all six systems, commuting to and from the site each day until the job was done.

“Being creative and flexible is the key to solutions that fit the situation and the customer’s scheduling window. A well-organized service campaign should support production, not interrupt it," says Landuccio Fasciani.

By working quickly and collaboratively, our service representatives completed all maintenance on time despite the constraints. The team worked against the clock to avoid downtime and increase production.
