Superose™ 12 columns replacement

By Cytiva

On Dec. 15 this year, Superose 12 columns will be discontinued. They can already be replaced by our new-generation size exclusion chromatography (SEC) columns—Superdex Increase and Superose Increase.

The new-generation SEC columns, deliver excellent resolution and optimized run times for small-scale preparative purification and analysis.

Four resins are available that can be used to replace Superose 12 resin.

Which new-generation SEC column to choose?

Below is an overview of GE’s new-generation SEC resins that can be used as a replacement for Superose 12 resin, including application examples. These resins are available in three different column sizes.

Superdex 30 Increase Mr ~ 100 to 7000

  • Peptides
  • Oligosaccharides
  • Separation of polyphenols (TCM*)
  • Other small biomolecules

Example of a protein mix separation

The chromatogram below shows the separation of a protein mix with Superose 12 and with the four replacement SEC resins. The table shows which conclusions can be drawn when it comes to suitability of these columns for purifying each protein from the protein mix.
